Introductions Needed

My name is Ron Black and I am a historian. I have been passionate about history all of my life and was a historical reenactor for close to three decades. I am constantly absorbing historical knowledge, most of it about little know history, facts, and curiosities.

My primary area of interest is what you might call domestic history, focusing on the events, objects, and activities of everyday people rather than the privileged few who take all the credit. Although I am well versed in America Domestic and political history from the Arrival of the Pilgrims to well into the 20th century, I specialize in New England and local histories of Connecticut and Rhode Island from about 1880 to 1935.

I received my degrees in American History in 2016 and Public History 2019. In 2020 I received a certificate in basic archeology. My reenactment experiences have run the gambit from Anglo-Saxon/Viking Age to the late 19th Century. During those years I engaged in educational programing and experimental archeology.

This blog post section will include categories such as, Ask the Historian. Here I will post blogs about questions I have been asked about concerning historical place, people, things, and events. I will also try to answer any questions sent to me that my readers have. There will be also section about history vs. legend and myth, local histories, early 20th century domestic history and fashion history.

I welcome all suggestions from my readers for blog topic and will give credit to those who make such suggestions. Please feel free to make comments and suggestions or use my email page to message me directly with any questions you may have. Thank you.
